GPS Pet Tracking System

GPS pet tracking devices have becoming more popular these days especially as dog owners are looking for an cost effective way to track their dogs. There are however, other ways to track pets other than dog GPS tracking system.

One of these ways is to use radio frequencies to track down your dog. These systems have two different components. The pet tracking device is fastened to the dog which emits radio frequency signals. The second part of the pet tracking device is the directional antenna or receiver. This is the device that receives the signal being emitted from the dog. The sound becomes louder as the owner’s antenna is directed towards the dog.

If this technology seems familiar, then it is. Scientist have been using this technology for quite some time to for research. Think of the video footage of the discovery channel when they are “tagging” dolphins. It’s the same thing, just for your beloved pet.

The biggest downfall of compared to the GPS pet tracking system is their cost. Each system is independent and therefore can be used anywhere on the planet. It is important to keep in mind that this is a very much a new technology for pet owners. Mostly this technology is being used by wildlife research.

Don’t worry, GPS pet tracking is very effective and costs the owner much less than their pet tracking device counterpart. These GPS dog collars are very small in size and have got so small that there are actually applications for cats now. Keep in mind that you will have to change the batteries to these GPS pet tracking devices about once every couple months.

    what kind of gps tracking collars and hand held unit can you supply to be used in new zealand for hunting with dogs. i have the garmin astro 220 and dc30s , they are good but have limits with the vhf frequences. are there any direct saterlite to saterlite collars that will work in any part of the world where there is no cell phone receptions or internet conection. would the unit be albe to track upto 5 dogs or more at one time and would it be displayed on a topographic mapsorce like the garmin astro 220.???????????? Thank you
